Ireland's Last Traditional Matchmaker

My name is Willie Daly and I am a third generation traditional Irish matchmaker: a gift I inherited from my father and his father before him.

On the west coast of Ireland, just a few miles from Lisdoonvarna in County Clare, I live on a small elevated farm with horses, ponies and donkeys within view of the Cliffs of Moher, the wild Atlantic Ocean of our own Liscannor Bay and the beautiful, spellbinding, magical Burren.

I have been matchmaking for over 50 years and am proud to say I have matched over 3000 couples in my lifetime.  Matchmaking is in my blood and I am fortunate to have inherited the skills of my father and grandfather.  Like them, I know instinctively what makes a good match.  The traditional tools I use are intuition, subtlety, and an understanding of human nature.

When you contact me I will provide a simple matchmaking form for you to fill in and return to me. I will then place it into my 160 year old lucky love matchmaking book.  Matchmaking needs time so please be patient while I assist you in searching for a suitable match.

Now, this ancient matchmaking book, which has been passed down through the generations to me, has special romantic powers.  It is considered to be a lucky love book.  If you touch it with one hand and close your eyes for seven seconds, envisaging love, you will likely fall in love within six months.  If you touch it with both hands while closing your eyes for seven seconds, envisaging love, you will likely be married within six to nine months or if you if you are already married - whether it has been five years or forty five years - you will likely recreate the first two weeks of your honeymoon.

My matchmaking is far different from online dating.  I believe that the internet is cold; it's a machine.  These days people need human interatction more than anything.  After all, isn't everyone just looking for the simple thing of love and happiness, to be cherished and to feel special?

During the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival in September you will find me at my office in the Matchmaker Bar on the main street in the village.  At all other times of the year you can make an appointment to see me or if you are overseas we can communicate via email, phone or letter post.

If you are not able to meet with me personally to touch the lucky love book but would still like to take advantage of it's romantic powers you can choose your option for touching it and I will touch it for you and send on the special wishes to you.

Come and visit my Matchmaking Museum which is located on my farm.  Here you will find a collection of matchmaking memorabilia which I have gathered over the years.  Enjoy watching my Matchmaking video which chronicles the history of the festival and matchmaking throughout the decades.

Also, for over 50 years I was the proprietor of a horse, pony and donkey farm where we offered trail riding, including the renowned, famous, 6 Day Trail of Love.  So now, along with the Matchmaking Museum, I have opened the Horse, Pony and Donkey Farm Museum which includes a video of Ireland in the olden days of donkeys and carts. We have a selection of vintage horse, pony and donkey carts and harnesses on display, the most famous of which is a jaunting cart featured in one of Ireland's best know films The Quiet Man starring John Wayne and our own Maureen O'Hara.  Also on display is a collection of antique farming implements, tools and household items, all of which are of great interest to young and old alike.  On most days our donkeys and ponies can be seen grazing the fields around the museum grounds.
